Fraser Health Authority
Fraser Health Perinatal Network, comprised of 8 hospital sites, is focused on providing optimal health outcomes through the best family-centered perinatal care. Approximately 13,000 babies are delivered a year, and many more receive specialty care through inpatient and at-home care. Our network boasts a total of 62 NICU beds, single labour birthing recovery and postpartum rooms, and beds dedicated to antepartum /postpartum and levels 1-3 care. Professional practice councils and nursing educators support you in your professional learning goals and help to develop the advancement of professional practice.


Interior Health Authority
Interior Health provides a network of perinatal and neonatal services to women and infants in a variety of acute-care settings. Kelowna General Hospital delivers 1,300 babies annually, and offers antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and gynecological services, as well as an evolving C-Section program. This referral facility provides Level II Neonatal Care and is currently developing an 8-bed NICU and 14-bed observation/ transition care nursery. Royal Inland Hospital, responsible for 1,200 births a year, provides acute and long-term neonatal care through a Level II NICU, 6 birthing suites, postpartum and gynecological programs, and Level II Transport Team services.


Northern Health Authority
Northern Health employs 7,000 professionals and is responsible for the delivery of health care services across Northern British Columbia, including over two dozen acute-care facilities, 14 long term care facilities, public health units and other specialty services. Our pediatric program is responsible for delivering approximately 3,000 babies a year across the region, and has a level II NICU (10 beds).


Provincial Health Services Authority
BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. We provide a range of specialized tertiary and secondary and primary health services addressing the needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. Our acute perinatal programs include high risk antepartum, the birthing program and high risk postpartum. Our Neonatal Program includes a 57 bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Follow-Up Program.


Vancouver Coastal Health Authority
Providing care to one of Canada's largest health service delivery areas, Vancouver Coastal Health provides a broad range of health services that span the continuum of healthcare. Our network of Perinatal and Pediatric Services provide family centred care to women and children in a variety of acute care settings. Richmond Hospital delivers about 1,500 babies a year, and Lions Gate Hospital delivers about 1,500 babies a year, both with inpatient and outpatient Perinatal services and strong links to the community. There are Level II Neonatal ICUs at each hospital as well as Pediatric units (one 10 bed unit with Observation unit attached and one 4 bed unit) and thriving Level II Pediatric Daycare Surgery units, at each hospital. In addition there are a number of rural facilities with Level I obstetric and pediatric services. Improvements include Single Room Maternity Care and an increase in incubators within our NICU.

Providence Health Care

A major obstetric teaching facility, Providence Health Care is responsible for delivering over 1,800 babies every year to both high-and low-risk women. Our family-centred approach is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team through single-room care and a Special Care Nursery for higher acuity patients. Our Maternity Centre promotes education through Childbirth Preparation Classes, covering such areas as labour and delivery, mother and baby, breastfeeding and after-delivery care.


Vancouver Island Health Authority
You'll find a family centred approach to care throughout the perinatal and neonatal services of the Vancouver Island Health Authority. Our network offers specialized care to women and infants in a variety of acute care settings, including a tertiary referral care centre, Level II NICU, and home-based community care. An interdisciplinary team provides care to antepartum, labour/delivery, mother/baby, gestational diabetes and postpartum follow-up areas.
